Comments : My AOS interview was first scheduled on Oct 12 and got cancelled on Sept 20. We called USCIS and had infopass appointment on Oct 24. After that, our case finally got touched again and I finally got the interview appointment letter on Nov 2. But surprisingly, they transferred our case from San Francisco to San Jose office.

Comments : 1. My initial experience with CSC is good. I mailed my application on Oct 29 night via USPS and it arrived at CSC THE NEXT MORNING. Lightning FAST! And CSC cashed my check a few days later and sent me the NOA1 right away.

2. Biometrics-- an overall good experience! It is a small biometrics center (unlike the SF one I went to last time) BUT there were very few people! And the security at the entrance was super nice. He did not even bother to check my stuff or X-Ray or whatever. He basically just asked if I had my cell phone with me. I said 'no'. And I was in! :) And after that, I did not have to wait in line cuz there were only 1 guy ahead of me :P I was out in about 15 mins (just cuz I was slow in filling out my form :)

Embassy Review : Let me share my interview experience in HK with you. Hope that helps.

I scheduled my interview at 1:30 pm. I arrived there at 1pm BUT I was told to wait in the wrong queue (the security guard outside the consulate was 'really helpful'.). So initially i should be the first 5 who lined up for the interview but then after wasting like 30 minutes to wait in the wrong queue,i became the 15th one (oh well i wasn't the only one. there're like 5 people who were told to line up in a wrong queue)...

ok so finally i got into the consulate. ONCE i went into the waiting room, i was told IMMEDIATELY to submit some documents (they're so efficient suddenly). I was asked to submit my medical report, I-134 original, tax return for the previous year(but still i gave them the employer letter and bank statement), receipt of visa payment, passport original & copy, I.D. original & copy, Birth Cert original & copy.and 2 passport photos (the staff asked me to retake the photos cuz 1 of my ears can't be seen! Luckily i could retake the photos at the machine nearby the consulate... but it's soooo difficult cuz one of my ears is actually very close to the side of my face!)

Ok then i gave the lady my photos (luckily she accepted them this time). then i sat there and waited for like 15 mins. I was then called and the staff asked me some questions. She asked the name of my fiance, how we met each other, my job & his job, when we engaged, how many times we met, whether we had met each other's parents, our wedding plan, when i want to enter the US. That's what i remember . And that staff was quite nice cuz she saw that i had a lot of proof, so she said that i could just give her the evidence and then she would like to have a look and gave them back to me later. So i gave her my whole folder & some photos and waited... My talk with her was much shorter than the others!!!

Another 15 mins i guess. then i was called to sign forms DS156, DS156k, DS230 Part 1 and i waited again. Then after that they took my fingerprint. and i had to wait again.

After like 30 mins, i was asked to swear in front of the Consul... This part is the easiet . So this young consul gave me back my documents and asked 'which passport do you prefer your visa on?' then i knew i got the visa!

All in all, i don't think the interview took as long as i thought. it's just around 4pm when i left the Consulate and most of time is just wait, wait and wait.

I hope my experience is useful to you all who're going to have interviews in the future. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!

Embassy Review : My interview was scheduled at 10:30am at the San Jose office. We arrived there at around 9:45 am so there's still plenty of time.

First we went to the 2nd floor and put our interview letter inside a box anad sat down at the back to wait. There were some other couples sitting in front of us (only 1 of them had a lawyer). As time went by, I saw some couples and officers come in and out. I found that most of the couples went inside together but then after a while, the husband was asked to go out and wait outside!!! well i guess that means the couples were interviewed individually! wow... i was so scared! Then i also saw a few officers coming out of the office. There were 2 Asian looking male officers (they looked very cool), one Indian lady (not much smile too), two white male officers (they both looked nice and smiled a lot), and one middle-east looking officer (he had smile on his face too). So you know, I had such a long time to see what happened there and was so worried that I'd be interviewed by those cool-looking officers!

At last at around 10:40am, the middle-east looking officer called us in! i was a bit nervous but once we went inside his office... he's even nicer than I thought! he 1st asked us to swear, then we sat down and he saw our file and said 'oh you two are very organised' but u know what he did was just to look at our evidence, like our wedding invitation card, bills with our names on it, joint bank a/c, marriage cert, our passports and birth certs, medical insurance with my name on it and my husband's recent pay stubs and employment letter. Then he was just chatting with us most of the time while he took the copies of some of the evidence. And he looked at some pics we brought quickly and at the same time kept chatting with us, like the housing market here, my experience here. After that, he just checked our information on the forms to see if they're right. The funny thing is he didnt really asked us questions, he just asked if this or that is correct or not. For example, he asked 'your birthday is on 3th of April, is that right?' haha so thats easy. And yes... after a little bit checking, he said, 'I'd like to approve you right now and i'm going to send an email and mail the welcome notice to you by today so that you can start your life here.' Wow... he's soooooooo nice!!!! And of course, unlike the other officers, he didn't ask us to be interviewed individually!

All in all, my interview was a pleasant experience. The interview lasted only 20 mins. How lucky I was yesterday!

Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
