Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : San Francisco
POE Date : 2010-10-18 Submit Review
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken :
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : Despite entry occurring after our two year wedding anniversary, the customs agent made my wife sign a form acknowledging conditional resident (CR) status because her visa packet was a CR1 (since that's when we had the interview). I told him it we had already celebrated our second anniversary, and his response was, "I have to follow the instructions in the packet," and, "They'll figure it out." Well, "they" didn't, and her green card came back as a conditional resident 2-year card instead of a 10-year card. Evidently, the same trained monkeys work everywhere within USCIS, not just behind a telephone.

Lifting Conditions

RFE(s) : 2011-12-01
Bio. Appt. : 2011-04-12

Approved : Yes
Got I551 Stamp :
Green Card Received : 2012-03-01
Comments : Green card arrived with conditions although our second wedding anniversary had passed prior to entry into US. Three phone calls to USCIS (first two unsuccessful - one representative even said all green cards start out as 2-year cards regardless of how long you've been married) and finally spoke to an officer who said no fee to replace card, just send it back with an I-90 and they'll take care of it.

Scheduled her for biometrics even though mailing address was an APO (I'm a government contractor), meaning we're back in Korea already. We sent back crappy fingerprints done by Camp Humphreys provost marshal who used a regular ink stamp pad; sent fingerprints off in 5/2011. While we were waiting for that to come back, we visited the US, where upon arrival the customs inspector questioned the legality of us living abroad while a permanent resident. Finally in 12/2011 they sent another RFE, saying fingerprints were unreadable and asked for a police report instead. (If it was that easy, why not just ask for that in the first place? And why not just use the fingerprints from when she first entered the country?)
