We have just finished our processing for our K-1 Visa! Our story is a bit unique, and perhaps one day I will shall all the trials and tests we have had to endure through this process. But as far as the actual interview as concerned, it went very well. A couple things to mention for those that follow:
1. We arrived at 7:15, although our interview wasn't until 9:30. When we arrived we saw people in line and thought we should join the queue. In hindsight, prolly should have lined up at the appropriate time, but my fiance' was allowed in, and had no problem. It was good that he did line up early, because the amount of people both before and after was quite a few. Talking about 200 or so all there at the same time. BE PREPARED FOR A LONG WAIT!
2. Paperwork-almost had a delay here, as the rep that was looking over his paperwork that is required to be brought for the visa, could have gone wrong. They looked at Birth Certificate, Police Certificate (Only the ACPO form), the affidavits of support, passport photos, and passport. (we didnt have any previous court records, marriage or divorce records or any kids.) The one thing that would have tied us up, is I didn't do an affidavit of support myself, but had my family only do them to support him, as I have been unemployed. But apparently for future notice, fiance' should do the affidavit of support, even if you think it would not be enough. Like I said, we had the extra help from our family, and the rep allowed us to continue with the interview because I had submitted a letter with the packet we mailed to the London Embassy.
3. The Interview: We met online, so the questions they focused on, was how long we had known each other, what website we met on, what we used to talk about, personal questions about me, like my full name, etc, and questions about my family. My fiance' was a bit nervous and the interview started out a bit scary, as he had forgotten the exact date we met, and the interviewer advised him to "start thinking harder". LOL! But in the end, he pulled it all off, and got the result we had hoped for....WE PASSED! They told us right then and he paid the courier fee.
Extra notes: I actually accompanied him to the interview, but was not allowed to enter the Embassy, had to find a place close by to wait for him. It was rainy and cold (BIG SURPRISE FOR ENGLAND! HAHA!) and had difficulty finding a place close, after walking around some shops, I ended up waiting on the benches outside the Embassy. He went in at about 7:30am and was finished at about 10:15am. Now we only have to wait about a week for that plane to take us to the US. Hope all goes well there! When it looks like the process is getting tough, don't give up. We hit a few speed bumps along the way, but now we are through and ready for the next chapter in our life together! javascript:emoticon(' ') |
