Embassy Review : Had my interview yesterday. Since I'd been for a student visa in the past I knew what it was all about and knew that it wasn't anything like as stressful as some people like to make out. Gould's pharmacy are on to a good thing, £3 to store your phone and even have computers in there for people who need to fill out last minute embassy forms...not exactly a pharmacy then...
It started bucketing down as I queued up so bring an umbrella or you'll be handing a very soggy interview letter to the (surprisngly) cheerful guy on the gate. You can take a bottle of water in, security just make you drink some before sending you in. I was inside by 8:15 for a 9:00 appointment. Had to wait quite a long time, 'I' numbers are called up veeery slowly compared to 'N'. Eventually got called up to the first window for the paperwork side of things. A rather seemingly-grumpy oriental lady took my forms but my advice here is just to talk to them. We were soon chatting like old friends and she told me I'd done a good job being organised! So help them out and be prepared, I can imagine how frustrating it must be when people turn up without the right paperwork. A quick word on photos, I attached mine to the DS-156 with packet 3 just in case and I didn't need to submit any more so it doesn't seem to matter.
Sat back down again, another hour passed and was called up to the second window. A friendly American guy made me swear to tell the truth and then you sign the 156K. Out of all the paperwork/evidence I'd bought just in case, he asked if I had any goofy photographs. Fortunately I did, because I don't like posed shots. Guess it makes his day a bit more interesting and he showed me one of his favourite photos from another couple posing in front of their 'Visa Approval' notice he had pinned on his noticebaord.
And that was that. Nothing to it really, don't let people kid you that its a stressful process. Its not really, almost enjoyable apart from the hanging around waiting. Just follow the guidelines and be honest at all times.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
