Comments : POE was great through EWR airport! He was out in less than an hour. They asked him his name, who was petitioning him, when were we planning on getting married. They did open his luggage and he brought this wooden salad cutting board as a gift for my mom and they asked him what was that for? Lol. He explained to them and they said ooook. Otherwise everything else was fine! I thought he would take longer so I was late to the airport so he waited for me sitting down and made some friends in the meantime, lol! Good POE!

Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 14, 2012
Embassy Review : Our interview was for 645 am. We arrived to the consulate at 520am and parked our car 2 blocks away. We didn´t stay at the hotel bc my fiance lives a few minutes away. We started walking and the buscones were after us, lol. They were inside a yellow school bus and started telling everyone that the consulate was closing early that day at 12pm and that they would organize our papers for us and staple everything for free. Of course I was already warned, but my fiance started to gand over his papers to the SECRETARIA, lol. The girl kept telling me to get on the bus and I kept saying no that I wasnt going to sit down and we didn´t need to do this. Then I gave my fiance the face like lets go. So he finally listened and told the SECRETARIA to give him his papers back because he didnt want to do anything that I didnt want to. So the girl whispered, ´´Oh she´s american, she´s scared.´´ lol! Que Show! Anyways we walked and got in line and we hugged the whole time in line. We took with us two albums, 1 filing folder and a 3 inch white binder. Some people had no evidence and others just had one folder. I wore black dress pants with a nice dressy jacket and my fiance black dressy pants with a button up shirt.

We were allowed in at about 730 am and they seperate the men and women in two seperate lines and we walk in through metal detectors. Before you walk in they give you a paper with a number. You have to keep that paper until you are finished. Our number was 281.

We sat down on the big metal benches and they called our number like at 745 to to window 21 to hand in our documents. They did not ask for the affidavit. Everything was correct. We sat down once again.

About half hour later they called our number again to window 12 to pay the fee of 210.00 and they handed us a reciept. We sat down again.

About 20 minutes later they called us to window 24 to hand in our reciept to the same guy who took our documents.

At about 10am they called our number again and my fiance did his fingerprints at window 14.

We then went and had breakfast because there is a cafeteria inside. We hugged and kissed a lot until our number was called again at 120pm. We felt like it was forever! We saw that everyone that went to window 17 was getting approved and eveyone in windows 21 to 24 were coming out sad and denied. So I said ´Papi i hope we get window 17´

So at about 120pm we were called to window 17 and we kissed! lol. We ran up with our bags of evidence and she said good afternoon in spanish to both of us. She asked to him to write my name and sign on the documents and my fiance first signed and they put my name and i told him he did it wrong and asked the nice lady if he could cross it out. She allowed him to and we handed it in.

She then asked me to sit down and began to ask him questions:

What is your fiancee's name?
What is her birthdate?
How did you guys meet?
How long do you know Maria (My friend)?** We met through my friend Maria who married his uncle. So I went to the wedding and met him through my friend's wedding)
How long does your fiancee know Maria?

What about your uncle (The one who married Maria)? Does he have a petition filed? Why is his case taking so long?

Do you have family in the US?
Where is your mother?
Has she met your mother?
Where does she live?
Where was she born?

They called my name on the Loud Speaker and then asked him to sit down. She interviewed me in English.

She called his name on the loud speaker.

She asked us what about his daughter? We said she would come later. and then she said ok take this green paper and go pay domex. We didn't catch on that we were approved, lol. It literally took us like a minute then we hugged eachother and kissed! We said thank you!! and we went over and paid domex $9.50

Can't complain! Not a bad experience. I must say though, that while they asked me to sit down and they were questioning him I felt like those were the longest 10 minutes of my life! lol.

She didn't ask for any photos, although I took 2 albums. The only thing she saw was the wedding location contract.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
