Embassy Review : They have a process, just listen and follow.

OUR EXPERIENCE
We got to the embassy 40mins before our appointment time and there was a line already started outside. About 15mins before our appointment, the security officer gathered everyone to go through the procedure..

NO cell phones are allowed into the building. There is a photo studio walking distance (literally around the corner) that charges $15 to store these items. They put your phone in an envelope and staple it. Then put it in a cupboard.

He then separated the individuals who were there for immigrant visa and non-immigrant visas. We were with the group of immigrant visas, and entered first.

As you passed through security (and they will tell you) you go to the glass door next to the TTPOST counter, to the right and take a number. Then have a seat with the chairs facing the same door. That is the section for immigrant visas and citizens. There are also signs that tell you this on the walls.

We were #5, they called 3 persons at a time to window #1. Within 40mins or so our number called to the first window. There the lady explained that you just need to have your appointment letter and handed us a brown folder to put any documents needed to present for the interview. She explained that if we had any kind of concern, we could return to that window. At this point we had to wait for my name to be called and go to window #2. The interview area was air-conditioned. Once called, the lady politely went through the DS230 form, confirming all the data was correct. She took the medical report, passport photo and passport. I had to scan my ten fingers and then return to the waiting area to be called to window #4.

A little while later, we got the call and walked to window #4. There the officer asked us to raise our right hands and swear to be truthful and that the information that we submitted was the truth. My husband was right next to me and he asked me to confirm who he was. He went through his questions and made his notes. He posed questions to us both. He then presented us with a letter of APPROVAL! He instructed is to come two days later at 2.30pm to collect the passport and visa.

NOTES:
- the bathrooms in the embassy are to the front of the NON-Immigrant applicants section. From the immigrant visa section, walk behind and to the right. You will have to walk in front of the applicants line.

- The Immigrant windows are numbers. The NON-immigrant windows are letters. When you name is called, the window is also announced. Sometimes it was hard to hear, but knowing the window system, helped me figure it out sometimes.

- There is only one exit - not the way you come in. Look for the big red arrow, it's pretty bold and easy to see Exit.

- Generally it is quiet enough to hear the announcements. And for the most part you can understand what they say - it's no where like an airport! The only time is for the "complicated Trinidadian" names that the officers sometimes have trouble with.

- They are serious about NO phones in the building.

- They are very polite and try their best to keep to procedure. They announce what is needed so that your documents and interview is processed easier, for instance have your letter in hand (not in envelope) and passport out before going to counter. The security guards also are very informative with where to sit and where to go.

- We arrived at 6:45am and walked out at 9:53am.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
