Embassy Review : Interview date: 17/12/18

I arrived at 11:00 for my 11:30 appointment. Was directed straight to the airport style security, and then into the embassy to queue for a reception desk where you will be given a sticker with a number on, and told to take the lift to the first floor, turn left and then left again. Took about 20 minutes to get through the security and queue for reception.

I sat for about 5 minutes before my number came up on the screen and I was directed to one of the booths. Very friendly officer asked me for - ds160, passport, 2 passport photos, birth certificate, police certificate, i-134 (i also handed over 4 payslips and letter from HR confirming annual income), and took my fingerprints. She asked me: have I ever been married before? Have I ever lived abroad for more than a year? She was super nice and was commenting on how different i looked on the photo on my police certificate to now and saying she liked my hair!

I took a seat for about 40 minutes then to wait for my interview. It must have been a busy day. My number flashed up again and I was called to the booth just next to the first one. I was asked to raise my right hand and take an oath, then fingerprints again. The officer asked me: how did you first meet and when? (July 2016); how many times since then have you seen eachother? (I said 16 trips between us. He laughed and said wow, that must've cost a lot of money. Yes, yes it has!); what is my fiances job? Have either of us been married before, and have I lived abroad for more than a year? That was it for the questions. Very relaxed, seemed like more of an informal chat than anything and the interviewing officer was really pleasant and friendly.

Unfortunately as my medical results hadn't arrived yet I couldn't be approved and was given a dreaded 221G. The officer told me not to worry as although its 'technically' refused he has to give me the 221G as they haven't got all the documents they need, however once my medical is recieved they will issue the visa in 10 days. He kept my passport.

The embassy has been by far the easiest part of the K1 process for me, the staff are so lovely and the interview was a breeze. Anyone going to London, it really is an easy and pleasant experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
