Local US CIS Office Review: Baltimore MD

Event Description
Review Date : July 11, 2017
Embassy Review : Hi everyone,

Check-in for our interview at the Baltimore office was easy. We sat in a large waiting room for only about 20 minutes before the officer called us in. We did not use an attorney, we found it unnecessary. We filed everything by ourselves and went to the interview by ourselves. However, some other couples in the waiting room did have an attorney with them, so feel free to bring an attorney if that makes you more comfortable or you have a complicated situation.

The officer was serious but professional. He interviewed us both in the same room for around 35 minutes. He asked each of us questions and instructed the other person not to answer for the other. The questions he asked are more or less a review of your application and your relationship/marriage. In other words, if you are a legitimate couple like we are, you should have nothing to worry about. If you are trying to fool them, don't waste your time or theirs. It is very obvious to them who is real and who is not. They do this all day.

At the end of the interview, he said something like "I gotta tell you, the bonafides look great, and I have no doubt that this is a legitimate marriage... I am going to approve you, but first we have to do another background check, so I will complete the approval as soon as that is completed by another department." He also commented how we had already submitted an overwhelming amount of evidence (relationship photos, etc.) with our initial application, and pointed to the massive stack of documents in the file on the desk. When we pointed out we had brought another entire photo album with us if he wanted to see it, he laughed and said he did not need to see any more. At this point the mood had been lightened, he seemed friendlier, and we joked that we thought it was better to err on the side of caution and provide too much rather than too little, and he replied, "yeah, some people apply without any photos!"

He did ask to see a couple shared accounts like car insurance, etc., which we brought with us, but it seemed like just a formality.

And that was that! We left extremely relieved and happy after waiting so many months for the interview date! Only 6 days later, we got an update that the Green Card was ordered, and it arrived a total of 10 days after the interview! Awesome!!!

Hope this helps, and good luck to all of you!
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
