Embassy Review : Smooth as silk: took less than 30 minutes inside the embassy. Was called up twice to an interview window: once to submit documents and then again for questions under oath. The questions were very straightforward: started with my name and age, along with my fiancé's name, address, date of birth. The gentleman then asked about how my fiancé and I met and how many times I had visited the US in the past year. His final question was when we were planning to get married. He looked over my medical report and proof of savings since I didn't bother with an affidavit of support. That was it! He said my visa was approved and I'd get an email with instructions on when/where to collect it.

So relieved!

Embassy Review : Had a super easy experience at DFW. I flew in First with BA and was off the plane and through the airport quickly. Arrived at the immigration hall where I waved my documents folder at a long-suffering staffer intent on redirecting tourists to the ESTA automated gates (never needed again!) and proceeded to the CBP "visas" line. There was only one person in front of me so I was seen next. I handed the officer my sealed packet from the embassy along with my passport and customs form. He opened the packet, took out the paperwork, and then went through the usual fingerprinting/photo faff. We chatted amiably about the weather (Dallas had just been hit by a huge storm the day before) while he processed my entry - seemed real friendly and helpful. He then called to a colleague to do a "soft secondary" inspection on me (basically just check everything over to make sure he hadn't missed anything). I was directed to take a seat and wait for a few moments. A few moments passed and his colleague called my name - and simply handed my passport back with a K1 entry stamp in it. No questions! Thanks, Dallas.

Embassy Review : I (UK spouse) was adjusting from K-1 to CR1 after several months in "authorized stay" limbo. We had to reschedule once because my husband had a work conflict - I wrote to the USCIS office explaining this and gave a list of dates that we could do and received a fairly prompt reply that this was fine and a new date was given - June 02 at 10:30.

We arrived around 10:00 in business casual dress. It was fairly busy and took about 20 mins to get through security. Once through, we went to the interview line (empty!) and a lady checked our IDs and AOS appointment letter. We were told to drop the letter into the box at window 2 in the "Information Area" (laid out with embassy-style interview/waiting room). We sat for about 15 mins before the ISO called my name and took us to a private office to conduct our interview. Well, I say interview: he didn't really ask either of us any questions that required us to formulate an answer!

We confirmed our names, our home address address, dates of birth and dove into the I-485 the officer had in front of him. I reaffirmed some of my prior answers (not a terrorist, never denied a US visa) whereupon the officer stamped the I-485 and asked me to sign my reaffirmation. We quickly moved on to evidence of our relationship. The officer was very pleased to see that I had already gotten a Social Security number and bank accounts/credits cards. I gave him our joint car/health/life papers and a utility bill with both our names on it as well as photos of our wedding and honeymoon (along with air fare and hotel bookings). He also took my husband's 2014/2015 tax returns but did not both to inspect them. I offered to give copies of passports, birth certificates, DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet) but he said they were already on file and not required.

The officer was extremely pleasant and relaxed throughout. The interview lasted approximately five minutes and he informed us, with a big smile, that he had no trouble approving us there and then for my green card. I asked about ROC and he confirmed that it would be 2 years from today minus 3 months. Then we stood up, shook hands and left - easy!

(Update: despite being verbally 'approved' on the day, my AOS case was kept open as USCIS then demanded an I-693 with my vaccination history transcribed onto it despite the DS-3025 being complete. However, I shall not let that post-processing irritant detract from the excellent interview experience.)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
