Our entry at Dulles Airport (Washington, DC) was easier than I imagined. As recommended, I asked the guide about which line to use. She said that since I was a US citizen, we should use the US Citizen line, and start with the automated machines. I was able to enter my data, but not my finance's. We were then directed to go to the queues to speak with a CBP officer. There, she finished processing my entry and then processed the K1 entry. She asked for the sealed envelop and then only asked about the wedding date. No further processing was needed. Total time (minus waiting in lines and me at the machine) was easily less than 5 minutes. I never imagined it would be so fast and simple, especially for a same-sex couple.
