It looked like the first immigration officer did not know about the brown envelope that we received the instructions from the U.S. Embassy was about. He kept asking for the pink folder that we did not even get acquainted. However, the documents inside provided enough information that he later sent us through the second immigration officer who conducted the fingers-printing and also stamped our passport regarding our 2-year conditional status.
Process took us around one hour to complete. Then, he sent us to the customs to have all of our bags x-rayed.
It will be a little bit challenging for the non-English speakers to encounter the Immigration Officer at the first time.
You should allow at least 2-3 hours for the connection flight via Chicago if you arrived here the first time. All international flights arrive at Terminal 5. Then, the visitors must take the electric trains outside to travel to Terminal 1 & 2 (United Airlines) or Terminal 3 (American Airlines) to connect the flights to the destination.
