We crossed at Sarnia/Port Huron, MI. We arrived about 9:30 am and there was hardly any wait time -- less than 5 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and nice, but none seemed to really know what they were doing. We had 3 different officers helping us through the process (all with their own versions of pocket "cheat sheet" instructions) and heard "we don't get many of these" about 10 times! It took a bit more than an hour to process my K1 and two K2s. We paid our $6 for each and got our I-94s.
All in all, an uneventful crossing.
I would feel a bit more confident that things will go smoothly from this point on if I thought that the POE officers were doing their part correctly, but we'll just have to keep fingers crossed that all of our paperwork will end up where it should.
On the plus side, I have already applied for my SSN, (within 1 week of crossing) and they had no trouble finding me in the system, so that's a good sign!
