I arrived at DFW from London on American Airlines 51 and had an hour and ten minutes to make my connection to Tulsa. I knew that that was pushing it, but didn't mind as the DFW-TUL route is flown hourly in the late afternoon, so I would be able to get on the next one if I did indeed miss it.

After filling out the customs form, I lined up in the US residents and citizens line and queued for about 10 minutes. When I got there, I got directed to booth 57, which is a lone booth right at the end, just for immigrant visas and if I'd know that, I'd have avoided a 10 minute wait haha, but nevertheless, the guy was very professional and just asked me to be seated while he processed me. It took about 5 minutes, he asked me if my wife was traveling with me. She wasn't. That's the only question I got and then he said, "As of 2 seconds ago, you're an official permanent resident of the USA, welcome home, Sir.". Which absolutely made my day, as it brought home that I'd finally made it to the point I didn't have to leave my wife behind anymore!

So all in all, it was as simple as they come. Oh, I did miss my connection by 1 minute, but made the very next one an hour later, but whaddaya expect! This was a great experience!
