I arrived on a direct Delta flight from Gatwick.

The queues weren't very long this time; on previous occasions I had to wait around 30 minutes before seeing an Immigration Officer. After about ten minutes I reached the front of the queue and was beckoned over by a youngish man. I handed him both my son's and my own passports and the sealed POE envelopes given to us from the Embassy.

He asked if I was married, or getting married. I replied "getting married". He stamped our passports and then he also did the same for our I-94s. He then wrote in the visa type and expiration date on them.

Then he printed my forefingers, took my photo, asked my son if he was looking forward to going to school here ("I'm not looking forward to going to school anywhere!") and that was it.

He was opening our envelopes as we walked away.

It was a straightforward and quick POE and, although the officer wasn't overly polite, he wasn't rude.

Overall, I was impressed at the speed of it all and have nothing but praise for CVG.
