Wonderful place. Everyone's helpful and friendly, and as long as you've got all the necessary papers and such on hand (and leave all sort of things like cell phones and purses and the like behind) you'll probably fly through in record time.
Get there at 7 (the entrance is on Rue St-Alexandre and it's not particularly obvious until you get close to it), they'll open up around 7:20. If you're first in, first off the elevator, and first at the window where you get your number, you'll most likely be out the door before 9:30. At least, I was.
The whole thing was a nice and efficient experience, without it feeling impersonal or stressful or anything like that. Everyone I dealt with was happy and helpful -- though I bet a lot of that had to do with the fact that I came completely prepared -- and I would imagine I spent roughly 8-10 minutes actually talking to the consulate officers... and most of that was getting my number, handing over the required documents, and paying my $100. The actual "interview" itself was casual, friendly, and short: How did we meet, has she met your parents, when are you hoping to get married, etc.
My advice to anyone going to the Montreal consulate would be to get familiar with the steps involved (get there early, remember the elevator opens from the back and you want to go left from there), only bring what's required and make sure it's all nicely organised (for your own peace of mind, really), and don't stress out about it. They're very nice there, and the overall feeling I got is that they really like what they do. Especially when they get to say "Okay, you're approved"
