Got to the MLC building around 7:20.. the lifts up to Level 10 dont open til 7:30 so was a little early.
Level 10 walked right, all the way around to the consulate office where we lined up and gave the security lady our appointment letter and passport.. She had a quick look through my bags and I went through the metal detector. Sat down in the first row of seats waiting for 7:45 when the next lifts open. Was in the first lift up (someone suggested to get into the lift last which was a good idea).

4th in line at the next security check. They looked at letter and passport, put any bags through the scanning machine and took away phones. Once through you get sent to the right through the doors to the waiting rooms. Directly ahead is the ticket machine which blends in a little too well and can easily be missed. Top button, ticket number 001 =D.. waited around 15 to when i was called up to window #1. Gave the lady all of my documents and appointment letter. She had a quick look through to make sure it was all there, stamped some things and attached my photos to the two DS-156 copies.

Waited for around 30 minutes til i was called up again and asked how I met my fiance and how long ago. The lady told me everything was in order and to wait til i get called up to window 4 or 5 for my interview.

This next wait was the longest - around an hour and 10 mins. The waiting room filled up in the meantime and there were people sitting on the floor and such because all the chairs were taken.

Final interview took around 5-10mins. Very nice and polite guy who asked a few different questions - how did we meet, how long ago, have we set a wedding date, where are we getting married, where does he work, what does he do, where will you be living, ever been married, has he, either of us have any children, have i been convicted of a crime, ever been hospitalised.

After he'd finished with his questions another lady came over and started talking to him about my police certificate.. they chatted for a minute or so, then both left the window.. When he returned he said everything was in order, congratulations, and that i should receive my visa within the next week!

I gave them a 3kg express post envelope and my visa came today (2days after interview)..

All in all very easy.. just make sure your documents are in the right order and that you bring a magazine or something to read while waiting!
