i woke too early after mistakenly setting my alarm an hour earlier than intended due to nerves... LOL!!
My interview was for 9.30am and I arrived at 7.30am after a hot chocolate at Starbucks and then dropping my phone at the local pharmacy.
The line was already forming and I was the 18th person. Security let us in 4 at a time and this part of the process was painless and quick. My number was I-903 and the I numbers began at I-901 therefore I didn't have to wait long and after a few N numbers were called I was up at window number 1 and dealt with by a lovely friendly dark haired British lady who was extremely polite and reassuring lady who smiled alot. There were a couple of hairy moments when I realised I had forgotten to bring the I-864 Affidavit of Support but the original was there in the file they had from the NVC along with everything else they needed.
I had another moment of sheer panic when she was unable to find a copy of my mother-in-laws passport but she told me to breathe and that it was probably the last document in the file. The nice lady gave me my chest x-ray CD and explained the procedure at point of entry in ATL. She handed me back all my original documents and said depending on how busy the airport was on the POE day, it may take about two hours to complete everything with Immigration and that my husband and I would have to be seperated while I was being interviewd/processed. (He's coming over next Friday to take me 'home')...
I waited again and then was called for my interview after a very nerve wrecking (yeah I said wrecking)35-40mins. I was called to window 16 and interviewed after swearing the oath to a stern looking, non-smiling blonde American lady who asked me just a few questions:
1) How did we meet?
2) How long ago? When was the first time?
3) Where did we get married, who was there and how many guests attended.
After the questions she told me there was an issue with my Police certificate as it was missing my previous married name and that I needed to get another certificate including the name. I was given a blue slip and told to call the courier service once I had obtained the new document and they would collect it along with my passport and deliver it to the Embassy the same day and it would be processed as quickly as possible.
I'm praying it will be done and dusted very soon as our flight to ATL has been booked for 28th February!! yep, we were optimistic!!
All in all it was much less painful than I thought it might be and I swear my heart skipped a beat each and every time another number was called... LOL
Hope this review is helpful!! Good luck you guys!!
