Review Topic: K1 Visa

I arrivedd at 7:15 and my interview was at 8:00am. There were 2 lines, a short one for USC and a 2nd for all others. There were 8 people in fornt of me.

Around 7:30 a lady came checked our papers and asked if we have any electronic devices on us. (DO NOT bring any such items, mobile, car keys, otherwise you'll be sent off to the nearby pharmacy to leave it there and will lose your place in line).

Around 7:40 they called us 4 at a time to go through security. Passed the xray machines, etc. Went up stairs at 7:45, got a number and was seated in the main lobby. At 8:05 my number was called and went to window 14 and faced a kind nice British gentleman who asked for the following documents:

Passport, birth certificate, 2 photos, police certificate, divorce/death certificate ( to show eligibility for getting married), affidavit of support, and a copy of all of these. I had everything in order, had lables on different items so that I could quickly locate what I wanted (important when you are nervous and excited). He then sent me off to another window to pay for my visa fee (MVR) and gave me a pink slip to fill out for courreir services. I did so and waited to be called again.

At 9:00 i was called to window 15 where I faced a very nice looking American gentleman with a serious look on his face. I was so nervous to the point where my hands were shaking :-). He asked me to write my fiance's name and sign under it. Asked to rasie my right hand and take the oath, he asked me the following questions:

Where did you meet each other?
Which site?
Where you looking for someone all over the world?
Did you want to start a new relationship?
How long were you single before you started looking for someone?
What about him attracted you?
Why was he looking for someone?
When was the last time you met in person?
Does he have any children?
Who does his child live with?
Do you get along with his son?
Does he have own house?
Flat or house?
How many children do you have?
How old is he?
Why is your last name different than your son's?

After answering these questions he looked through the thick folder and then said congratulations I approved your visa! He gave me back all my original documents and said do you know that you should get married withing 90 days? I said yes, he closed my file and smiled and said congratulations again. The whole interview took 15 min.

I then went to stay in line to pay for the courrier services, waited there 15 min and was out of the embassy by 9:45. I was so releaved and went to get a cup of coffee to relax a little bit.

I wish all of you a speedy and successful process.
