My overall experience at the Montreal Consulate was great!
My appointment was 11:AM I but I decided to show up at 7:45 AM at the Consulate building. Door opened at 8:00, passed through security with all my electronic devices, Ipad, Iphone, headsets, usb sticks, car keys, etc.. left for safekeeping with the security office and later claimed on my exit.
8:30 AM - I was no.2 in line for the interview even my appointment is 3 hours away, my number was called to a window for finger printing processing. The lady at the window was nice and accommodating. I was asked to take a seat and wait for my number to be called again. I then realized, it was a first come first serve basis. I was glad to arrive at the consulate 3 hours early.
9:00 AM- My number was called for actual interview. I was impressed on how professional the interview was conducted. Questions asked were based purely on the information provided on the application form. The consul was pleasant and didn't make you feel nervous. I have prepared for this moment dressed in my best business attire, hair and makeup impeccable, I think putting an effort to look professional can build confidence. It works all the time with me:-)
9:15 AM - Soon as he was satisfied with all my answers, he then says the most awaited phrase: " I am approving your Immigrant Visa, welcome to the United States of America"!!
