My interview was scheduled for 11 am on Friday, December 9th in Montreal. I was able to get an appointment at Dr. Seiden's on Tuesday, December 6th using the phone number provided on this site.
Dr. Seiden's
I got there 30 minutes early (10:30 am) and waited for 2 hours before I even got to see the doctor. Once that was done, it went quite quickly. Blood tests and then xray.
The parking lot takes credit card payment and is very easily accessible. You can see it on google street view if you want to see what the area looks like beforehad.
I was able to go in and out in about 10 minutes to get my results on Thursday, December 8th after 2:30 pm. All in all a very positive experience. Just be prepared to wait.
Consulate
I arrived at the Consulate at 7 am and was 4th in line. I parked at the Complexe Desjardins (expensive but I'd say safe which is good since you should leave everything in your car and not bring it to the Consulate).
Of the 3 first in line, 2 were VJ members and the 3rd got turned away for having a briefcase looking carrier for his documents. It was smaller than my accordion folder but it had a handle. Don't bring something with a handle and don't think that they will let you in with a bag. I'd say 5 or 6 people got turned away within the first 15 minutes of the door opening. Also don't argue with the guard. It won't help.
Once we were in, it was just like all VJ members reported. I'd just say that it was easier to hear and understand whose number was up than I had thought it would be. The first 4 in the door were all family based visas so we got C1-C4 and we were all done by 9:30. I was very surprised by the speed. Of course, thanks to this site, we were all well prepared.
Although I hadn't yet read the welcome to the USA letter, I found 2 emails in my inbox on Monday stating that my passport had been picked up at the Consulate and was in transit to the Dartmouth location of Loomis. Today (3rd business day following my interview), I will be picking it up. I was not expecting it to be that fast.
Now all that remains is to cross the border and hopefully be recognized as IR-1 since we have been married more than 2 years now.
On a final note, I would like to thank all creators and members of VJ. We had paid a lawyer to help us and well he didn't. Without this site, we would still be waiting instead of being able to take charge and get what needed to be done done. I have recommended the site to many and I know I will be back if I need more info.
Merci!
