Natali arrived at consulate at 0800 and was allowed in immediately. She presented all paperwork and then waited with 10 other people to be called for interview. I told her to be prepared for a long wait but she was called in 1 hour for the interview. She said that I sent more documentation than necessary but the consular officer complemented her on the detail and organization of the package. Always better to have too much than not enough detail. The consular officer only needed half of the information to conduct the interview. Natali was asked the same standard questions:
1. Where do I (petitioner) live? What city?
2. What company do I work for?
3. What is my job?
4. How we met? Did we use an agency?
5. When was our last meeting?
6. Do we have wedding plans?
7. When will she be departing to come to the US?
After answering all questions satisfactorily, the consular officer told her that the visa was approved, instructed her to make payments and wished her good luck and happiness in the future. Natali told me that everyone was very courteous and helpful. She actually enjoyed the experience.
She made all required payments and was told she would receive her visa in 7-10 days buy courier. She was on her way home at 1000 which was a very quick 2 hour process.
My take on the process is to follow the recommendations of Visa Journey to the letter, organization and attention to detail are very important, follow all instructions exactly and educate yourself about the process. Also provide more detail than you think will be required.
