Interview time: 9am
My train arrived at St Pancras at about 7.40am. Walked towards the Embassy, stopped at Goulds and paid £3 for them to look after my phone. Walked along to the Embassy, about 8.30 by this point. There was just a few people in front of me but there seemed to be a lot of other people stood in another queue. I got asked for my passport and interview letter, got my name crossed off the list, given a bag to put my belt in, and told to go join the line for the security check point. Went through security quickly with no problems, out the door of the hut, turned right, walked around and went up the steps and in to the reception desk, showed my appointment letter and passport and was given a number. Went up the steps and into main hall where there were lots of people. I sat waited, read a bit, waited some more, got my number called, went to see nice lady at a window round the corner and down the corridor. I got finger printed then asked some questions including fiance's name, what does he do, gave her my documents (passport, long birth cert plus copy, police cert, i-134 -she only took a small sample of the bank statement I brought along as evidence. Got asked if I'd paid the fee, which I hadn't so she sent me to window 12 (cashier) to pay the fee and bring the receipt back. That was more or less it. She gave me an envelope with the x-ray CD inside and a pink passport delivery form to complete. Then, I had to go wait some more, not sure how long, then I got called up again to a window down the corridor where I spoke to an american man. I got finger printed and did the oath bit (I raise right hand, he reads oath, I say 'yes') then he asked some questions about how we met and what he does, all light and quite informal. He gave me my original birth cert back, explained about not opening the brown envelope with my medical results in it and told me to go arrange for delivery at the courier desk. Went off to courier desk, handed them the pink form and paid for delivery. Left the Embassy at about 11.30, reclaimed my phone and had time to do some other things before walking back to the train station to go home.
