Straightforward interview process:

We arrived at the embassy right about 7AM.
Line up at line #3, metal detector, hand over your phone.
Go to one lady who makes sure you have all your paperwork, puts it in folder.
Wait a long time.
Go to one window for 5 minutes, verify info in your folder.
Wait a long time.
Go to another window - fingerprint.
Wait a long time.
Go to another window with consular officer, 10 min interview. They only spoke to the beneficiary, not the USC.
Wait a long time in Domesa line.
Leave the embassy about 12.30.
Take a nap because we were up so early.
Celebrate!

If you haven't figured it out yet, you'll be waiting a lot. Bring a deck of cards, books, magazines, model airplane kit, etc etc.

Still, the K1 interview process is easier than the student/tourist visas...those folks have to stand in line the entire time. K1s wind up waiting in an area with seats, right next to the coffee/breakfast shop.

Another note - I (the USC) wore a suit to the embassy. Some people came in, in casual clothes (mostly Americans). Other people (mostly Colombians) wore suits. I think it helped convince the consular officer that we were both serious about it #1 that I was present, and #2 that i "dressed up." YMMV.
