Review Topic: K1 Visa

First of all, I want to thank Visa Journey for providing a place to have questions answered…we have used it the entire time we have been going through the visa process. Timelines and forums have provided wonderful answers and samples of what is to come in the process.
My fiancé arrived a little early for his 9 a.m. appointment (8 a.m) and was admitted into the embassy after passing easily through security. Remember not to take electronics to the embassy – my fiancé left his cell phone at Gould’s pharmacy (recommended by many Visa Journey members)You WILL NOT be admitted if you take so much as an MP3. After being admitted, my fiancé was given a number and was called after about Fifty minutes. He gave the person behind the window our affidavit of support and his original birth certificate and very little else because we had mailed everything to the embassy for the previous packet. He had just sat down when he was called for the second time. He thought he had forgotten something at the first window, but this was his interview! The gentleman had my fiancé take the oath and asked where we met and if he had any “funny” poses in the pictures he had brought. The interviewer flipped through the paperwork and gave my fiancé instructions for the brown envelope and told him to go to the window to pay for delivery of the visa. That was that…after so much anxiety! Done in about an hour and Twenty. It was a very quick and painless process. The only thing my soon to be husband noticed was that others, waiting in line and in the Embassy had paid little attention to dress. While there is no “dress code”, I felt that the occasion of being invited to attend an Embassy, any embassy, is a privilege and not a right, and the least one can do is offer respect. Jeans and a T-shirt may be comfortable, but come on, learn to dress appropriately for the occasion.
