I had my interview in London on 18th July, set for 9am. I got there at 8, having stayed in Marylebone overnight, dropped my phone off at Gould Pharmacy and joined the queue for security.

There were a number of people who got sent out of security and up to the pharmacy - no electronics means no iPods, car key fobs, phones, you name it, but there were some who either didn't know or didn't realise.

Got through the security and through to the welcome desk past the Met policeman with his MP5 sub-machine gun! and received the code I915 - meaning, I presume, the 15th immigrant visa applicant of the day. I sat down in the waiting area and got my book out!

The wait was just under 2 hours, and I was called through for the document check (taking the original and copies of birth certificate and police certificate, etc) and she took my passport. After a couple of questions I was sent to sit down again.

About 30 minutes later I was called to a different window where the consular officer went through my documents, asked a couple of questions, got me to put Gin's full name on the form and sign it, and then told me I was approved!

Paid my courier fee at the DX desk, and out of the embassy by 11am.
