Matt's interview was today in London. He was scheduled for 8:30. He didn't sleep the night before and I didn't sleep all night knowing he was in route and going through it all on his own. We both have tried really hard to stay positive, however one thing I NEVER mentioned was the facet that he is in the process of dealing with a minor run in with the police that happened in the US last September. We have been so nervous and done all the research, as well as work as diligently as possible to satisfy the issue. Our fear has been that there isn't really any research you can do to tell you what we would be up against in the interview process..... We did decide however that the truth would be our best bet and that having ALL supporting evidence would at least show those truths.
After a two hour wait he was finally called to the 1st window where she took all his documents. Then sent back to sit again and he heard his number called, but it never appeared on the screen so luckily he was listening. They asked ONE question about our relationship, "What is your fiance's name?" The rest of the time was spend going over all of the legal documents and many questions. The man before him that he had been sitting next to had been denied so his confidence was low at this point and he was trying to figure out what to say to me if he were denied. But that man before him was lacking many of the required documents. So FINALLY after all the paperwork had been reviewed the CO said "well, ok you've got it." WHEW!!!
In the end I think if you are honest and have all the documents required to back up any situation you may be facing they will let you get on with your life. We are both so thankful.... It seems surreal after all this time and all the worry.... It's worry enough with-out a legal issue to over come.... I share this piece of our story incase there is anyone else with any minor criminal issues. Deal with them and have all the documents to support it and above all be honest.
