Overall the interview process went quite well. People were professional and organized, though there was a lot of waiting time due to the huge number of applicants. I won't go through the whole process, others have written about this before.

Some observations and suggestions about my own experience:

- No proper pedestrian lane in front of the embassy which is pretty dangerous for those arriving from across the street. But a guard told me they will complete an overpass soon.

- My appointment was at 6:30, I arrived at 5:45, and was all done by 9:30. I don't think you need to arrive earlier than I did. Once they open the doors at 6:00 am the line moves pretty fast.

- I paid my visa fee online with BPI, as this was one of the options given. I only got an email confirmation, no receipt. At least 2 of the staff I dealt with were not familiar with this and had to call maybe their supervisor to check on this. Luckily I brought my bank statement showing the corresponding debit and I had to submit this for extra proof of payment.

- For those who are still worried about the police clearance from Singapore (like I was-- it has been unavailable except on appeal since Oct 2010) you can rest easy : all the staff have been informed of this change and they did not require one from me.

- The consular officer who interviewed me was pleasant as well as professional.

Overall, I think if you are eligible, well-prepared and have all the necessary documentation, you will be ok.
