Consulate / USCIS Member Review #7689

Panama Review on June 1, 2011:

2Complicated

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was not able to be at the interview. The interview lasted about 10 minutes. The consular was very intimidating. He asked him about three times if he had some chronic illness. He does not, but he also had not seen the results of the medical so he did not know what was going on. He guesses this was a tactic to make him nervous?? The consular asked when did we meet, where. How many times did I go back to visit him. My fiance mentioned my grandmother was from Panama. He asked where in Panama is she from and is this location near the beach that he works.

Then the consular stated he needed tax returns from me and the co-sponsor for 2009 and 2010. Also, he needs some other court document. They kept all of his papers (originals and copies) and his passport. He was told they keep everything until he returns with the documents. The times to deliver papers are Monday and Wednesday only, between 8 and ll am. He had to pay the rest of the visa fee.

He returned with the requested papers, but they requested more papers. He brought those papers, and they told him they'd call him when they're ready to talk to him. Once he reached his city, they called him asking him to come in for an appointment where they finally denied him. They did not give him back his passport and original documents. I emailed the embassy and they told him to come back again to get the papers. This whole experience has been an expensive ping-pong game with the embassy javascript:emoticon('')
