Monday has always been a good start for a week. That is the main reason why I chose May 23, 2011 to be my interview date. I got up very early on that day, like 45 minutes past the hour of 1am, was so excited and pretty nervous at the same time.
I arrived at the embassy 1hr & 15mins before my scheduled appointment. Well, our friends here in VJ were right that we should be there early so not to cause any problems in entering the embassy premises. All applicants applying for Immigrant visas were asked to form one line (since I'm applying for K-1, it’s an immigrant visa) as well as those for Non-Immigrant. While waiting for my passport, eligibility letter and confirmation sheet to be checked, I prepared my DS-Forms and my visa fee receipt to be given to the employee whose going to take all that I mentioned above (except for my passport cause the pre-screener was the one who asked for it) and gives you a number (my number was 7005), went inside the embassy building. You must watch the queuing board all the time cause numbers are called randomly.
It took 20 minutes for my number to show on the board, telling me that I should go on window 50. I thought I’ll be having my finger scanning. But I tell you, it was my initial interview and I was not prepared!Hahaha Honestly, the lady on that booth wasn’t really nice but I told myself stay relax and be polite all the time. She asked for my fiance’s I-134 Affidavit of Support, W-2, bank statement, ITR (Income Tax Return) and Employment Letter. She asked these questions as far as I can remember: who is my petitioner, how did we meet and when, does he have kids, do I have kids, was he married before, what is his work in the US, she looked at our pictures and told me to wait again for the next step.
I waited for 10 mins probably, for my finger scanning, it was quick. My number flashed 25 minutes after the scanning for final interview. I can still remember it was in window 62 and consul’s name is Benjamin. Hehehe He then asked me these: My petitioner’s name, when did we meet, how did we meet, when was the official date, how long were in relationship, how long did he stay, what was the purpose of his trip, why I chose him, did we talk about getting married here in Phil, when did we decide to get married (while he was here in phil or already in US), are we planning to have a big or small wedding, did I finish studying, what degree program, in what company that I'm planning to work in US, he looked at our pictures when we were at Kawasan Falls and asked where its located. He then told me, “Alright, wait for your name to be called for final instructions”.
While waiting, I was in doubt of what the decision was because I’ve never heard the CO say that it’s approved. Then, a guy in a forgotten window called my name, have me fill-up a white 2go slip, told me to drop it to window 69 and go home after. That’s when I knew I was approved! Im done by 9am, woooohoooo! I was so happy and excited to be with my baby again soon. Thanks to God!
