Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our K-1 visa interview was on April 25th, 2011. We arrived at 7am and waited in the 'residency' line. We were the first to go into the embassy. They had everyone go up to the window to check-in. Then they called everyone up by number to take ink prints. We waited our turn to be called up again. They called up my fiancee and asked some basic questions: Who was his fiance? How did we meet? How long was I in the country for? Who did I work for (while living in Honduras)? When was our wedding date? They took our documents at that point and told him to sit down. I had way more documentation they we needed, so they only took the documents they wanted. About 10-15 minutes later we were called into a private room where they took digital prints. They told us our packet was put together well & they liked our wedding invite. The lady said the purpose of the meeting was to verify that we had a real relationship, which we did. Then asked my fiancee if he was ready to go the States. We had to go back the next day to get his passport with the visa sticker in it.

The only thing I wish I would have known was to bring exact change. They will not make change and they will not except half in dollars - half in lempiras. (The bank is 5 blocks away and they will only exchange $200/person).

Everyone was very nice and very professional.
