I arrived at the embassy around 7:30am for my 9am interview and was surprised to see the size of the queue. There were around 20-30 people in front of me and it took around 20 minutes to get through security. Once inside, I had to show my interview letter, passport and receipt. I was then issued a ticket with a number on it and was told to wait down the far end of the hall as that’s where the window I would be called to was. After waiting for around a half an hour, my number was called. I went to the window where the rudest woman I've ever met greeted me. I handed her my police certificate, court records (as I had 2 minor crimes,) birth certificate, passport and 2 passport-sized photos- which she told me where not good enough even though they were UK passport-standard. After a few heated words, she accepted that it wasn't my fault that her machine didn't work on them and gave them back to me. Finally, I had to give my fingerprints. She then gave me another ticket number (which was the same as my original) and told me to take a seat and wait to be called by an officer. I waited for about another half an hour until I was called. I walked up to the window, very nervous, considering the 2 crimes on my record. It was a man this time, an American, and very pleasant. He put me at ease instantly. He told me to hold my right hand up and swear that everything I was saying was the truth. He then asked for my fingerprints again. He proceeded to ask questions about when and where we met, what she does for a living, what I do, etc..... I could see my police report was sitting on top of my file. He then brought up the dreaded criminal record. He asked me what happened in each of the situations. I breathed a heavy sigh and before I could tell him he said to be calm and not to worry as my visa was already approved. This brought a huge smile to my face, I was elated. I told him exactly what happened in each. Afterwards he said everything was in good order and that my visa had been approved. I then went over to the courier desk, paid the £14 and was out of there within an hour and a half. All very painless!!
