(Written from husband's perspective based on my recollection of our early morning conversation)
Arrived in London the evening prior and scouted out Underground routing to embassy. Took copies of everything we had submitted previously just in case. Bit nervous about forgetting evidence of trips together and maybe a form or two, but this ended up being a non-issue.
Early breakfast and set off around 0730. Arrived at the embassy at 0800, and through the line to the waiting room by 0809. Sat around for an hour while all the N numbers were being called, then an I number (oh, mine!) for window 13. Very nice British lady, put me at ease - "Yes, it's unlucky number 13 but don't worry, I don't bite!" and reviewed all the paperwork. Everything was in order, just had to turn in copies of terminal leave paperwork, then back to waiting for 40 minutes or so.
Cup of tea later, I number called again to window 16. This time, a very nice American bloke asked a couple of questions about terminal leave from the military (what it meant, was I still subject to report to work, etc.) and that was it! Was a bit surprised, so he said "Well, I can ask you more questions, like what side of the bed does she sleep on and what colour is her toothbrush?", but laughed and said we were done. Paid for the courier fee, 8-10 business days, and out the door!
The entire day was as painless as could be, everyone at the embassy was very nice and made me stop stressing. Now to wait for the post to arrive!
