My interview was meant to be 9am. I set off early and was outside the embassy for about 8. I found it really easily, I remembered a review I read on here saying the building didn't look like an embassy...IT HAS A MASSIVE GOLDEN EAGLE AND A GIANT U.S. FLAG ON. You can't really miss it. Queued for about 20mins (the queue was small compared to what it looked like an hour later), went through security and arrived at the front desk. They took my visa payment page and then gave me a sticker with a number on it. I sat down in the waiting area, the system they have is like Argos, you watch the screen and wait until your number comes up. I waited about an hour...I have no idea since there aren't ANY clocks in the place. Then i was called to the window. The lady was chatty and friendly, I liked her. She took my fingerprints and she hardly took any of my financial evidence (I brought tons for the I-134s just in case) and took my original birth certificate, deed poll and police certificate as well as the copies..oh and my passport, and told me I'd get the originals back at the next window. She gave me my cd with my chest xray on and a form to fill in for the courier. She then said to take a seat in the same waiting room and wait for the same number.
It was only about an hour until I was called up again, maybe less time, I was chatting to someone else who was waiting for a K1 visa so the time flew by. When i went to the next window I was greeted by an american man, he took my fingerprints and then made me swear that everything on the forms was the truth, I answered with "I do" cos I didn't know what I was meant to say hah. He asked me a few questions like what does my fiance do, where does he live, when are we intending to get married, where we met...which was hilarious because we met online and I really didn't want to say the name out loud. When I did he laughed and said that's definitely one of the weirdest he's come across.
He then congratulated me and said to expect my visa in 1 to 2 weeks. I just grinned like an idiot, thanks him and skipped off to the courier desk.
The girl who served me there was incredibly friendly, asking me questions etc. It didn't take long since it looked like I'd missed the huge queue of non-immigrant visa people.
I then left the embassy and rushed home to book my plane ticket.
So all in all, it was a good experience, it's pretty slow because of the amount of visas they're processing but I got there half an hour early and ended up being processed before people with earlier appoinments, I guess it counts on when you walk through the door and get given the number.
