I will say that the people in the Embassy are very courteous and helpful - albeit our situation got convoluted. Despite 5 visits to the Embassy in 4 days, they were always polite and tried their best to keep us posted on our status. The interview was quick, and they even asked questions of me and our daughter. They telephoned us when there was a "hiccup" so we were cognisant and we were always allowed access to the Embassy and not have to wait outside with the masses.
If you are going thru the Ukraine, we wish you good luck and a speedy approval - but think overall it will be a relatively simple process for most.
