Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husbands first interview was on February 2, 2011. He arrived at 5:30 am. they opened at 7:30 and everyone rushed to the cue. Once inside, he was called to window and was asked for his basic papers by a Ghanian man. He then was called for his interview after waiting less than one hour. The interviewer was a White American middle age man. He asked several questions about 10. How long have you been married, how many times your wife visited Ghana (6 times, then he asked why so many and my husband reponded because we are married and she's my wife), how many children does your wife have, where and when we met, who introduced us, has he been to the embassy before (yes denied visitors visa a year ago), why is his wife rushing him to come (619 days later...hmmm strange question..not a rush - was a so call expedite but actual time line is consistent with everyone else from approved by NVC from December 2009). He took the photos and asked him who the people were in the pictures. He wrote on a yellow pad and kept going through papers. What is your address in the USA, Does your wife live in an apartment or house. He kept delaying and writing and then telling him to wait as if he was typing or consulting his computer. Finally he said you did a good job and was about to give his approval when he noticed his name was misspelled by one letter on his police report so he asked for an older one and my husband produced it but it was expired. He gave him a slip to go correct the police report and come back on the 24th of February. I instructed him to go get the police report corrected right away and they did it for an additional fee... He returned the same day to embassy but security would not let him in.

After this I wrote to the embassy via email and requested a date prior to the 24th as we had an expedite..an upcoming personal issue on the 17th of February (they were already aware of this but still gave 24th of Feburary which is crazy). They responded to the email within hours and actually said the 24th was the day he asked for (hmmm....not true)! After reading their explanation, they granted us an earlier date of February 9, 2011 and he had to bring the email notice with him. On February 9, 2011 at 7:30 am. He arrived at 6:00 am and they took his letter and he sat for about 2 hours. He saw the first man who interviewed him and he was accompanied by another man who observed and made comments (perhaps a supervisor). They took your new police report and then issued him a blue paper. My husband reminded him that he needed to be in the USA before the 17th and the interview said why and my husband told him. The man behind him told him oh okay let's help him so he should come for his visa on this Friday. The security guard (who was at a nearby window helping someone) complimented my husband because he stated the interviewer was very hard on people and denied many visas and that the interviewer was pleased with him as he asked why he knew so much about me and my husbands response was because she is my wife.
My husband arrived on Friday, February 9, 2011 to pick up his visa he was the first person to be called. He left Ghana on February 12 and arrived in the USA - POE - IAD - Washington, Dulles - 6:00 am.
