Hello,

I went with my American fiance to the interview (we both are currently working and living together in Amsterdam). It was very easy, but they make it look so much scarier for those who still need to get it done!

I was pretty nervous, but knew there shouldnt be any issues, as we had all the necessary documents and been together long enough (4,5 years) not to freak about simple questions

Anyways, showed up at the embassy, had a chatty security guy take away our cell phones and any other digital devices (they made one couple leave the line because the battery of the mobile phone got stuck and wouldnt come out; however, they were allowed in the line once they resolved the issue).

My fiance was next me all the way, including our 1,5 hour wait in the line to submit our documents. We were able to hear and see what other people were supposed to provide and what they were talking about.

A very friendly American woman asked for the copy of my birth certificate, affidavit of support, police certificates from 2 countries I lived in more than 6 months and also statement of our sponsor's taxes statement in the USA. My fiance's dad is our sponsor, and we didnt have this document. When she asked for my fiance's taxes statement we didnt have that either, but we had all the documents from his dad stating where he works, how much he earns, which shares does he have, etc. etc. She said it all looks good, and asked us to wait for the interview with the consular. Please note that during that time my fiance was the one helping with finding all the necessary documents.

I think we waited about another 45 mins while being able to hear all other people going through their interviews. Some people were asked a few questions, but nothing too scary or anything that required too many details.

Our consular was a very friendly young woman who just asked when we are planning to leave and mentioned that Dallas is a beautiful city (thats where we are going to live). She spoke more to my fiance than me (nothing about our relationship, just normal conversation you have with a stranger), and was very smiley. Then she said congrats and said my passport will be mailed to me within 4-5 working days with the visa in it. However, they forgot my stamp for registered post, so hopefully it will arrive soon.
So no questions asked, very calm and relaxed-thats our experience
YAY!
