So, that morning after a horrible night of sleep, i was pretty anxious and headachee...i think from nerves,but by the time I arrived in Amsterdam i felt fine again..Once I got to the Consulate I was 45 minutes to early and the first one to arrive, after that pretty soon a whole line was forming by the gates, around 13:35 this guard comes out and lets groups of 3 coming in, we have to show him our invite we received with the last package, we have to empty our pockets and he`s starting to scan us one by one with a handheld metaldetector and tell us to line up again by the door, after like 5 minutes I was allowed to go in as first, i came by this glass window where another guard told me to empty my pockets again and walk through a metaldetector, my keys and my cellphone I had to leave behind to pick up after eveything would be done.
We were sent to a waiting room, where I was almost instantly called to a booth, this real friendly Dutch guy asked me for some forms, told me what expect and gave some stamps here and there, he said ; Oh, I see you don`t have any kids, no criminal record, no divorcepapers, so that`s easy"....(relief on my side) He returned me my X-ray as taken by the medical last time and says I should hold on to it for future reference. Then he asks me to wait till my name will be called. This happened after like half an hour, when I walked up to that booth there was this real friendly American lady sitting and asked me to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth, then she went through some forms with me and asked me to sign them, she took my biometrics, and asked me a bunch of questions like; How did you meet eachother?, what are you gonna do in America and such, when I think about it, It might have been just those two questions, anyway when she was going through the papers I saw this big photo from me and Laurah in the pile, she said; yeah your girlfriend sended that to us, and showed me the other 2 as well, and she even sended this, she said, and pulled out a CD, the picture CD we sended for our RFE. Then she says; yeah , I looked at all of them, they`re really pretty, I`ve seen enough!...While me and Laurah thought that no official would even bother looking at them.Then she asked me; You`re probably nervous for your interview, aren`t you?...I was like; Yeah, kinda, cause there`s a lot depending on it" then she told me; Well, what if I tell you that this was your interview, and you`re gonna be going to America soon and get married!!"....I think I must have looked really stupid at that particular moment, cause I was shocked that it was over with...
She congratulated me, wished me a great future in America and that was it...I still can`t believe it!
Now as I write this it`s 3 days later and I have my Visa in my hand, they sended it through signed mail the day after the interview.
Word of advice to you all;
Make sure you have everything complete, in order, and ready for your interview.
Don`t worry too much (i did), cause it really ain`t such a big deal once at the consulate. I was nervous cause I did`nt know what to expect, but my experience with this consulate is that they`re really friendly and nice.
Good Luck!
