We got to the consulate at about 7:15AM on November 20, 2009. There were about 20 people lined up in front of us. At about 7:50AM, the doors opened and we slowly filed in and went through security checks. They don't mention on the form that liquids aren't allowed, but they do check for it. I had my hand sanitizers in my purse, which they let me keep, but forgot about my USB key, which they temporarily took away and gave it back after my interview. At about 8:30, a group of us sat in a room right next to an elevator, and a security guard took us up to the 19th floor. We then went to counter 14/cashier and got a number (A1, B2, C3, D4, for example). The cashier was really nice and gave us our number C8. We had to wait a while for our number to be called. At about 9:30AM, our number was called and we went to counter 10. A nice lady went through my file and made sure everything was filled properly (everything was fine) and gave me a slip to pay at the cashier. Since we didn't have enough of USD, we paid in CAD which was fine with the cashier. We then returned to counter 10 and the nice lady continued with the rest of the paperwork and told us to wait a couple of minutes for our number to be called. About 15 minutes later, we were called to room 8. The room was just a room with a man behind the counter. He smiled and said hello to my fiance and I. We said we were nervous and he said not to be because we've already made it this far. He then asked us the usual questions, how we met, what I plan to do for work and what our plans are in terms of a wedding. Very straightforward. And then he said he was pleased to extend us our visa and that it would take 7-10 days.

Overall, despite the waiting, it was a very pleasant experience. Everyone just seemed so nice.
