Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance's interview was at 1 p.m. He was carrying 2 bags - a backpack and a briefcase containing all his papers. He was told he can't bring in the backpack with him and to go to a nearby hotel to ask them if they can keep his bag while he's being inteviewed. He came back to the embassy telling the guard that no one wants to take his backpack for a few hours. The guard called someone from the embassy to check his backpack and then they let him in. Phew.

My fiance dealt with 2 CO's. The first one took his paper work and making sure everything is in good order. He's speaking with her for about 10 minutes. Then he waited for over an hour for the next CO. The actual interview took about 10 minutes as well.

Topics raised:

1) Previous marriage(s).
2) His first U.S. visit and his 2nd one when he was refused entry. He explained the misunderstanding and his lack of knowledge of VWP rules.
3) What he does for a living in France.
4) What he's planning to do in the U.S.

He said it's a total of 5 questions around the topics above. Both COs are very professional. After that she told him yes I will give you the visa. She explained that he will get it in 10 days and that the visa has 6 months validity and we have 90 days to marry. No slip or anything.
