My fiance attended his KI Interview on October 21, 2009. He stayed overnight at the Marble Arch Hotel, so he wouldn't have to worry about catching the train to arrive at 7:30am. He arrived at the embassy after dropping his things off at Gould's Pharmacy.

During the security scan, the officer found something metallic that caught his attention. It was one of those Hallmark cards with the music chip in it. Leave that sort of evidence at home!

Ian handed his paperwork to the lady at the counter who ensured everything was there, then handed him a pink slip. While he waited for his number to be called, he paid the courier, which he later realised was a bit out of order.

When his number was called, he went to talk to the CO. Ian informed him that he mistakenly paid the courier already, and verified that was not a problem (he said "no", but you can do it in the opposite order, just to be safe)

The CO asked questions like "Where did you meet?", "How did you propose", etc... 4 general questions in all, then told Ian he was "good to go". Ian asked, "Do you mean I'm approved?" and the officer confirmed he was.

That was it. He mentioned the staff at the embassy were quite friendly and professional and it was really a non-event with a good result!

Ian's tip: Make sure you have all your paperwork and that your paperwork is organised.. use folders or post-it notes to mark everything.
