I filed a CR-1 application. My wife was interviewed on February 25th, 2009. She got there early and waited in line with the rest of the people outside. At 7:30 AM the consulate asked for those who had an appointment letter to come up. My wife went inside and an Indian officer asked for her Police Clearance Certificates (PCC's) and the VFS receipt. The officer returned the VFS receipt back to my wife along with a token. Within a half an hour they took her fingerprints. Then she waited until 11:45 AM for the interview with the American officer. The interviewer asked if she wanted a translator...she did. My wife took an oath (to tell the truth). Then the (female) American officer asked the following questions:
1. How did you meet your husband?
2. Where did you go after the marriage?
3. When did your husband return to the US after your marriage?
4. Why did your husband only stay for two weeks after marriage?
5. How did you fall in love in two weeks?
6. How long has it been since you saw your husband?
7. Why hasn't your husband come back to India to visit you?
8. How do you keep in touch with your husband? (Phone, Email, Chat, Video Conference)
9. What language do you use when speaking to your husband?
10. Who does your husband live with in America?
11. What does your Mother-in-Law do in America?
12. Did anyone force you to get married to your husband?
13. Are you parents happy with the marriage?
The interview was over within 15 minutes. The American officer didn't ask to see any pictures, nor did she ask for any additional documents. The officer was polite and also laughed/smiled during the interview.
Then the officer said "CONGRATULATIONS. YOUR VISA IS APPROVED. The Visa will be available at the VFS office in Mumbai this evening."
My wife went to the VFS office between 5 PM to 6 PM. They asked for Identification and the VFS receipt to pick up the Visa.
