When you get an interview at the Embassy in Sofia you will be scheduled for 8am. If you get a taxi to the embassy they will probably charge you a fortune by Bulgarian standards and you will want to schedule it the night before so they will pick you up in the morning. Just fyi...the Embassy OPENS at 8am and you cannot stand outside of it unless you stand on the other side of the road. Your interview time is a very gross approximation. You will be in line and waiting for at least 2-3 hours most likely. I watched one couple RUN hand in hand to get there first, this is probably a good idea, lol. I attended my husband's interview. This is not required...but if you met online I think it is a good idea to try to be there. The first lady we spoke to sounded very incredulous at our love story, I think my being there saved us a lot of hassle. Speaking in English is not necessary. On that note, half the consular employees are Bulgarian with terrible accents in their English. The other half are American with horrifying accents in their Bulgarian. Half of them are very very friendly. Half of them are kind of rude. Good Luck. The interview process was pretty painless and quick. It was the waiting that was terrible. Overall it wasn't so bad.
