My K-1 Visa interview at the US Embassy in Manila was a great experience overall. I arrived at the embassy around 7:00 AM for my 8:00 AM appointment. The wait time was approximately 2 hours from arrival to the actual interview, which included document verification at the window, payment of the visa fee, and waiting for my number to be called.
The embassy was well-organized and the staff were professional and courteous. When my number was finally called, I approached the interview window and was greeted by a friendly consular officer.
The interview itself lasted about 10 minutes. The officer asked me the following questions:
1. How did you meet your fiancé?
2. When did you first meet in person?
3. How many times have you met in person?
4. How do you communicate with each other?
5. What are your plans after arriving in the United States?
6. Where do you plan to get married?
7. What does your fiancé do for a living?
8. Have you ever been married before?
9. Do you have any children?
I answered all questions honestly and confidently. I had prepared a well-organized folder with all supporting documents including photos together, chat logs, travel itineraries, and evidence of our relationship. The officer seemed satisfied with my answers and told me at the end that my visa was approved! I received the blue approval slip and was told my passport with the visa would be ready for pickup within a week.
Tips for future applicants: Arrive early, dress professionally, bring organized documents, and be honest and confident in your answers. The Manila embassy handles a high volume of K-1 cases so the officers are experienced and efficient. Overall a great experience!
