Appointment Scheduled: 9:30AM
Entered: 9AM
Handed back Document Folder: 9:15AM
Interview: 11:05AM
I arrived in London by train at around 8:10 AM. I then looked for a Lime bike and cycled to the embassy, which took around 25 minutes and cost £6.99 for a 60-minute bundle. I arrived at the embassy at 8:50 AM. I approached the pop-up desk outside the security checkpoint and let them know I was there for a K-1 visa interview. They checked my passport and DS-160 printout, then told me I could enter in 10 minutes, which was 30 minutes before my appointment.
After going through security and entering the embassy, I went to reception to collect my ticket number, then headed up to the first floor to wait. About 10 minutes after I sat down, at around 9:15 AM, I was called to Window 21 to hand over the sealed document packet from my document review on July 10. I was then given a sheet of paper to read, which provided information about my rights as a soon-to-be spouse of a U.S. citizen. I sat back down and waited for my ticket number to be called for the interview.
I was called to Window 23 at 11:05 AM, where my interview began. First, I had to take an oath, swearing that everything on my petition and everything I was about to say was the truth. The officer then asked me the following questions:
How did we meet?
When did we meet?
When did we first meet in person?
Was it in the U.S.?
Have you ever been arrested?
How many times have I visited?
Where does your fiancée live?
What does your fiancée do for work?
After I answered the officer’s questions, he said, “I intend to approve your visa today. Congratulations. Please allow one to two weeks to receive your passport back in the mail.”
He handed me back my ACRO and birth certificate, and I left the embassy around 11:15 AM.
