Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Just a quick review of my K1 interview in at the US embassy in Montreal.
Arrived about 10 minutes early to my appointment. Entry and security was quite fast. Any electronics stays in a lockbox. After going up the elevator, I'm greeted by a lady asking for some general documentation.
- Canadian Passport and copy of passport page
- My long form Birth Certificate (Act of Birth in Canada)
- 2x Passport photos
- Police report
- Proof of US Embassy & document delivery payment
The lady then handed my a pamphlet and a number. I was informed that I'd be called to booths about 3 times. Once for verifying my informations, once for taking fingerprints, and then once for the actual interview.
Two booths and about 45 minutes later, I was called for my interview. Which only lasted about 5 minutes total.
Questions asked :
- Who is sponsoring you?
- What's your fiancé's phone number?
- What does she do?
- How'd you meet? Then in real life?
- Trouble at the border before? Ever arrested?
- First Marriage?
- When's the last time you met? How long?
Then he handed back my Act of Birth certificate and a document on how to track my visa's delivery, and told me I was approved. No more documents were asked for, despite being in the Packet IV.
On the same afternoon, the visa tracker changed to "APPROVED", and "ISSUED" on the next day.
Overall, while I was quite stressed, my experience was smooth. The staff is friendly, which does help with anxiety.
