We showed up to the embassy early and they let everyone in 15 minutes before our interview time. They let me in with my husband without even checking my passport.
We both went up to the first window, the woman spoke Russian and took our documents: husband’s passport, birth certificate, military book, our marriage certificate, husband’s Russian police certificate and our proof of relationship printout (about 15 pages long). That’s it. She also checked my passport and gave it back. She asked my husband a few questions about his military book and previous countries of residence over 6 months. We were actually in the Philippines a bit longer than 6 months but she let it go. They weren’t that strict about it.
Everything seemed fine, and my husband had his finger prints taken and then we sat down and waited. The embassy lost power twice during this time, but it didn’t seem to affect anyone’s work flow.
About 30 minutes later, after everyone was checked in, they started calling names for interviews.
The officer was American, and offered my husband a Russian translator but he opted to power through in English.
I could hear the whole interview, I sat a few feet away.
The officer was confused about our visa type and only referred to me as “fiancé.” It was surprising to me that the officer was that careless about such a detail. My husband didn’t correct him, but he referred to me as his wife in his answers. I guess they are just more used to interviewing for k1 visas than ir1/cr1.
The interview was pretty impersonal, just questions.
Questions asked:
How did you meet?
When did you first meet in person?
Have you seen each other since then?
What countries have you lived in and how long?
Are you planning on moving to the US?
Where will you live in the US?
What is your fiancé’s job?
What is your job?
What is your plan for work in the US?
I think it only lasted 5 minutes.
At the end the officer said, “congratulations your visa is approved,” and gave my husband a pink slip with information about how to get his passport back when the visa was ready. He also returned all of our documents.
CEAC Status for reference, it seems very uncommon for people to get the Approved status in Yerevan, so expect for it to say Refused.

July 10 - Updated back to Refused and then back to Administrative Processing
July 14 - Issued
July 15 - Passport Picked Up!
