Review Topic: K1 Visa

It was a cloudy morning. The first typhoon this year just passed yesterday.
My appointment was 7:30 AM. I breezed through the entrance as the process outside was very organized. A staff told me to sit and wait at the lobby but it was only for a few minutes as we were called to go in the building. They had me again sat in the area for fiance visa and waited a while for the pre-screening.

When it was my turn, a young filipino lady asked me for the DS-160 and payment receipt, then to submit the following: 2 2x2 photos, PSA Birth Cert, Cenomar, NBI Clearance, and the unopened envelope of the medical results. She then asked me my petitioner's name, my name and birthday, how and when did we meet, how many times we've met, have I applied for a U.S. visa before (tourist visa. denied.), and when's the last time I've seen him. Then a few moments of organizing my case file, she told me to go to the interview area and wait for my name to be called. She bid me good luck.

Waiting at the interview area somehow calmed my nerves as it was a long wait, I almost had a nap. I had a small chat with a young lady beside me who's also a K1. That helped too as we were exchanging what we just experienced during the process.

I got called to window 70 and a fine-looking officer asked for my passport and then asked me (in a friendly tone) my petitioner's name, his age, my age, have I applied for a U.S. visa before, how and when did we meet and when's the last time I've seen my fiance. He also asked me few other yes/no questions that was from the DS-160 form. Then he skimmed through my case file for a moment and said he will approve my visa, and gave me back my DS-160 confirmation page and a leaflet about IMBRA. I thanked him for his time and I left.

It was a pleasant experience overall.

It was a weird feeling as I walk out to a fine morning, sort of like a door of possibilities just got unlocked. To whoever is reading this, you got this! Best of luck!
