My now-spouse arrived on a K-1 visa and we got the notification for an interview for the adjustment of status (for a green card) 2 months before the actual appointment. When we arrived at the USCIS office (which was practically empty), we went through the scanner, were given a number, and waited five minutes or so before being called for the interview. The interviewing immigration officer was very kind and understanding of difficulties understanding English. My spouse, being the one applying for the green card, was the only one allowed to answer questions. The immigration officer just confirmed the basics (name/date/address/DOB/phone number etc), asked for photo ID, and went through all the yes/no questions on the I-485 form. That was it. Spouse was approved for a conditional green card 24 hours later.
