Great experience at the Embassy in Dublin. This will be quite throughout of a review as I relied on these pre-interview to ease my nerves so I'm trying to pay it forward. TL:DR at the end.
Interview was at 8am, arrived 7:50am and went through security without issues. Note that you can't have any electronic devices on you (phone, laptop, headphones etc) and it includes smart watches and airtags. I had a mechanical watch and they were fine with it as well as a tote bag full of my documents. Other folks inside had handbags/backpacks. Locker for your electronics at security is big enough to fit your phone and that's it. Attire on most folks was smart-casual.
Room where you have your interview is quite small and there's only a couple of chairs so be prepared to stand for a couple of hours if needs be. You through Admin Processing first, where they ask for the documents on the interview checklist - make sure it's originals, you'll get then back at the end. Once complete, you wait for your name to be called.
My wait was about an hour and half, roughly 4-5 folks in front of me. The interview is held at what looks like a bank teller window in the same room. The officer doing my interview was really nice. I was worried as I had been told not to try "chat" with them and be very serious but the man interviewing me asked questions in a genuinely friendly manner which made me feel more relaxed. I was asked to confirm basic details about myself and my spouse and then asked:
- how we met, when and where
- where did he live, where did i live
- what we both did for work
- has he ever lived here in ireland with me
- when did i plan to move to the us and where
Less than 15 minutes, tops. Said I was approved and congratulations, my passport would be ready for pickup in about 10 days and honestly after that I didn't hear much else of what he said cause I was so happy hahaha. In total I was there for 1hr 45mins.
