Review Topic: K1 Visa

Be aware, K-1s get lumped in with immigration visas, so the forms and requirements that are presently available online are targeted towards folks applying for immigration visas, which means the information you get may not be applicable or reliable. That is, we went through the checklist of everything beforehand, and made sure we had everything, and yet we were still referred for administrative processing. Two things they asked for: ALL my passport pages (not specified in the checklist anywhere), and more photos of us (we brought 4 new ones to the interview, I guess they don't check against or use the USCIS package?). The 3 forms they gave afterwards were a bit confusing.
Basically, step 1 is make sure your delivery method on ustraveldocs is the way you want it (probably you want it mailed since you weren't immediately approved, just double check that), step 2 DOES NOT APPLY, and step 3 you have to dig through some pages online to find the instructions for how to submit the documents. I guess it was as smooth as could be with how clunky courier services are.
In terms of scheduling and timing of the interview, the appointment was set for 7:50, but her interview wasn't for about 2.5 hours after that. We video-called while she could still use her phone, and the line outside the consulate looked insane, easily hundreds of people lined up and more still arriving before the consulate even opened. Definitely a DMV-like experience where you want to show up as early as you can to get your interview as early as possible.
